What is the minimum order for printed hang tags?

500 pieces per design. Below that the plate-making and set-up cost dominates the price, so it stops being worth doing.

Which paper do you use for hang tags?

Coated art paper at 200, 250 or 300 gsm. It takes offset ink sharply, stays flat and is the cheapest way to get a stiff tag. Heavier boards are available if the tag has to survive retail handling.

Can you punch the hole and add string?

Yes. Hole punching is part of the die. String, elastic or plastic barbs are quoted separately because they are bought in, not made here.

How long does production take?

7–10 working days after you approve the digital proof. Proofing comes first and usually takes 2–4 working days including the courier photo.

What a tag actually costs you

A hang tag is a flat sheet of paper with ink on it. Almost all of the price is plate-making, set-up and paper — not labour. That is why the per-piece price collapses as quantity rises, and why ordering 3,000 instead of 800 usually costs very little more in total.

Paper	Coated art paper 200 / 250 / 300 gsm. 300 gsm for tags that get handled a lot, 200 gsm for lightweight apparel tags.
Printing	Offset CMYK, one or two sides. Spot colours available.
Shape	Rectangle, rounded corner, or any closed die line you supply. We will draw the die if you only have a sketch.
Hole / string	Hole punched inside the die. String, elastic and barbs are bought-in items, quoted separately.
Finishing	Gloss or matte lamination, spot UV, foil stamping, embossing. Lamination is worth it if the tag will be handled in a shop.
Minimum	500 pieces per design.
Packing	Flat, counted in bundles. Tags are not strung unless you ask for it.

Three things that go wrong with tags

1. The hole is too close to the edge. Less than 6 mm of paper around the hole and the tag tears in the shop, not in the warehouse. We will flag it when we check your die line.

2. Thin paper with a heavy print. Full-coverage dark ink on 200 gsm art paper curls after cutting. If the design is mostly solid colour, go to 300 gsm or add lamination — cheaper than a reprint.

3. The hole sits inside the print. Where the punch lands has to be designed in, not cropped out afterwards. Send the dieline with the hole marked, or tell us the hole position in millimetres.

2 · Dieline check	Same day. We tell you what will crack on the fold, misregister or jam the die-cutter.
3 · Quote	Price FOB Ningbo, in USD. Freight quoted separately against your port.
4 · Proof	Printed, cut and glued sample, photographed in daylight, before the run. The proof cost is credited back against the order.
5 · Production	7–10 working days after proof approval, packed flat per SKU with a packing list.
